Late Tuesday night, a 7 Richter scale earthquake hit our neighbors to the south in Haiti. Haiti had already been dealing with the effects of the 2008 hurricane season, in which severe storms devastated more than 70 percent of Haiti’s agriculture and infrastructure, creating pockets of severe malnutrition which left 3.3 million people in need of food support.
The UN World Food Program has been operating in Haiti in 1969. In 2009, WFP School Feeding reached over 400,000 Haitian children in 850 primary schools. In emergencies, funds are drawn from long-term development programs, like school feeding, to provide immediate support for victims.
In response to the devastating earthquake, the FEED Foundation has established a FEED Haiti fund, specifically to maintain WFP School Feeding in Haiti during this critical time. To help us, go to www.thefeedfoundation.org and click the “Help Haiti Now” button.
Along with direct donations, from January through June any FEED 1 and FEED 2 bags sold at www.feedprojects.com will have the donations sent to the FEED Haiti campaign to ensure continuation of school feeding for Haitian children.

Dear FEED Customer,
First and foremost, thank you so much for your generous support over the past month! In 2009, due to our customers and retail partners, FEED was able to donate $250,000 to the UN World Food Program’s school feeding initiative, over $50,000 to Room to Read for the purchase of local language children’s books, 1,000 backpacks to community health workers through Millennium Villages, and was able to provide over 500 children with Plumpy'Nut nutritional supplements!
This past holiday season was both an exciting time and an incredible learning experience for us. We felt so fortunate to be featured on The Today Show and on Live with Regis and Kelly this holiday season. We were both amazed and grateful for the number of customer responses we received as a result of this publicity.
The primary objective of FEED is to maximize the donation portion of every customer purchase so that charities (such as the UN World Food Program, Millennium Villages, Industrial Revelation, and Room to Read) can benefit as much as possible from the sale of our products. In order to accomplish this, we are a small business that keeps our operating and administrative costs low (there are only 4 of us!) and our donations high. We are passionate about what we do and our goal is to create good products that help FEED the children of the world.
We know that many of you experienced issues and frustrations with the timely delivery of your orders during the holiday season. We cannot apologize enough. The simple truth is our infrastructure was not prepared for the unprecedented sales we experienced in December. We have already revised our warehouse and inventory management system, and will be implementing improved tracking functionality within the next few months.
Please know that the four of us at FEED see all emails that come into the info@feedprojects.com account, and will be handling them on a case-by-case basis during the next few weeks. We hope to address the majority of your questions with answers to a few FAQs within this email.
Due to the overwhelming and exciting customer response this holiday season, the FEED 5 bracelet, FEED 10 pouch, FEED 3 bear, and FEED 5 bear are currently on backorder. If you did not receive your order, or if your order was missing one of these items, you can expect it in the following time frame:
Product Expected Customer Ship Date
FEED 3 bear Mid March 2010
FEED 5 bear Mid March 2010
FEED 5 bracelet Late March 2010
FEED 10 pouch Mid May 2010
We take pride in supporting fair-trade factories while using special, eco-friendly materials, such as natural burlap and organic cotton. While these processes do contribute to longer production timelines, we thank you so much for your patience while these new products are being produced at our factory.
We send our donations to our charity partners at the end of each year. Each charity partner has received your donation and your contribution is already helping to feed hungry children, purchase local language books, and provide much needed medical care to others. We hope that you understand our inability to process refunds.
As a thank you for your patience and as a token of our appreciation for your support during this time, FEED will be donating an additional 500 school meals this year in support of the UN World Food Program’s school feeding initiative.
Thank you again for your support of FEED and cheers to a new year!
Best wishes,
Team FEED
